The Serious Business of Bubbles

My husband has some serious health issues and they are all consuming. When my brother Eric printed a photo of Bryn, my cousin's granddaughter, taken by Jenna Gibbon and said you have to paint this, it seemed like the perfect opportunity to forget for a moment the onus of being an adult and enjoy the carefree moments of childhood. While the painting was difficult, it was for several days a lifeline to happier times. Thanks to Jenna for allowing me to use her masterpiece!

A Thousand Stories - One Last Dance

This is a portrait of my father. Difficult to paint as he has passed. The inspiration came after attending a performance of On Golden Pond at The Little Church Theater in Holderness, NH. The production was written and directed by Ernest Thompson. The play was wonderful. I laughed. I cried. I was inspired. Ernest and Carly Simon collaborated on a song called The Father and Daughter dance..........

A Thousand Stories - Great Minds

It has been a while since I have had time to post anything.
The subject for this painting was stumbled on while looking for an image of a pipe. The image was so compelling and provocative, I contacted the photographer, Bob Krist, for permission to reproduce his image in pastel. I am really pleased with the resulting portrait. I am grateful to Bob for allowing me to use his image.
Visit his website www.bobkrist.com to enjoy his collection of images.

A Thousand Stories - First Love

Another mystery man with a passion for the sea and yarns to spin.

A Thousand Stories - Island Man II

Happy Memorial Day. Finally good weather and people out and about. Experimenting with Pastel and People. Island Man II is part of the Thousand Stories series. Not sure if he was a tourist or a resident on Monhegan Island. Great face with a history!

Fading October Original Pastel

Yet another snow scene! This is late fall. The trees are still holding on to their leaves and the fading colors of October shine through.

Fall Flurries - Original Pastel

While I am growing ever tired of the endless winter, I do enjoy painting our New England winter landscape. This pastel depicts the early snow of fall while the foliage is still hanging on.

Frosty Meadow

Another recently completed pastel.

Birch Point

I have been working in pastels for the last few months and loving them. This was done in the studio from reference materials gathered on our annual trip to Maine.
