Pears

I have been working on some still life paintings this past week. Still not warm enough to get outside and paint.  It has been fun doing basic fruits, vegetables and flowers in oil on 6 x 6 panels..  I am working on Ampersand Gesso Board.  Fabulous smooth surface!

Red White and Blue

This floral abstraction was painted on canvas board with a knife.  I love to use the palette knife to keep from getting caught up in to much detail. Cheerful!

I just recently finished this pastel painting of lilacs.  I was asked to paint three floral paintings for a local art show.
It has been a long winter here in the Northeast and it was refreshing to paint the sights and colors of the spring that is so late in coming.  I have not painted flowers in a long time and it was fun and inspiring.  I am currently painting a series of 12 x 12 oils with a lot of color and a floral motif.  This pastel painting was done on Ampersand pastel board which I find I cant live without.  The board has a wonderful smooth surface but with enough grit to handle multiple layers of pastel.   I cant wait for more of this Ampersand board to arrive!
