Yet another snow scene! This is late fall. The trees are still holding on to their leaves and the fading colors of October shine through.

While I am growing ever tired of the endless winter, I do enjoy painting our New England winter landscape. This pastel depicts the early snow of fall while the foliage is still hanging on.

I have been working in pastels for the last few months and loving them. This was done in the studio from reference materials gathered on our annual trip to Maine.

High Noon

It has been an incredible summer in New England. Clear blue skies and bright sun. I love the way the dappled light hits the white clapboards of a typical New England structure. This happens to be a barn that I paint often. This is a small study. I think it will make a nice larger piece.

Memorial Day - For God and Country

I do not consider myself a portrait painter. Capturing every detail of the subjects face, flawlessly, is not my intent. Rather, I would hope to capture the essence of the subject. I am working on a collection called "A Thousand Stories". It is what is behind the face that interests me. The stories they could tell.
